The other "technique" you're talking about isn't "instant transmission" or "instantaneous movement" or anything like that at all. You could have a ki blast fired at you, and whereas with normal movement, you could get hit if you charged toward the person firing, with the Shunkan Idou, you could teleport toward the person firing and not be touched by the blast. Two, when in the process of going from one spot to another with it, you can't be hit (it doesn't actually work the way the 6th Z movie indicates, where it's some kind of alternate dimension they travel through) at all. One, it exceeds all forms of conventional speed, as movement with it is legitimately instant. It is advantageous to use in combat for two reasons. In and out of battle, This and the Kaioushin's Kai Kai are the only two actual teleportation abilities, and in the 6th Z movie (which you mentioned), this is the technique both Goku and Meta Coola were using. It's disappearing from one spot and reappearing in another without physically traversing the distance between those two spots. The Shunkan Idou, or teleportation, is just that. Given that Cell works on the whole process of "genetic memory", because Goku's genetic material at the time had "remembered' the Shunkan Idou, Cell, upon integrating Goku's material into him when he regenerated, learned it as well.DBS Manga Chapter 100 (Previous Chapters) | □ Click to hide fanart, cosplay & merch posts! - Our FAQ - Jan 18: DBS chapter 101 - Our Wiki. It's possible that he's just able to pick up techniques far more readily than anyone else can, given his nature and repertoire of techniques.Īlternately, there are some fan theories that, since Goku's genetic material following the explosion was floating about along with Cell's, that Cell, when he regenerated, somehow incorporated Goku's current genetic material into the mix as well. It may involve some kind of ritual or other circumstances that only those on Yardrat are capable of performing, and Goku just isn't able to mimic that on his own.Īs for how Cell came to learn it, there's no information really to give us a concrete explanation as to why. We honestly don't know how it's taught, so it's something that Goku may not be able to physically impart to someone else normally.
